Three Years of Tears
“Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears” (Acts 20:28-31).
The devil is crafty and his most seductive and expensive heist was and continues to be his attack upon the church, through the pervasive spreading of false doctrine, or doctrines of devils. In the text above the passionate plea of Paul is proclaimed to the Pastors of the church in Ephesus. Zealous Paul tearfully warned the bishops for three years, the church would soon be infiltrated and compromised through the hands of men. Psalms 119:89 reveals that the Word of God is forever “settled” and “firm” in heaven. Yet, this has not stopped the devil from trying to dilute true Kingdom teachings, causing deadly and massive spiritual confusion.
Paul addressed this to the elders, knowing they would be responsible for the watch. He mapped the formula of darkness that would be used to weaken the minds of the church. The propelled methods of the devil account for global biblical division today. The apostles prophesied two things: After my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock and of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. The church was penetrated and those who subscribed to the false doctrine were drawn out of the church and began promoting their own form of Christian religion. So why so many Christian church types? Paul said, “…Remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.”
The day is here. The world lives in a bellow of false doctrine accepted as truth. Paul preached and taught about this dreadful day for three years. God seeks unity. This revolution calls for a renewed discipline of studying scripture, allowing the bible alone to answer the spiritual questions of men and women. Private interpretation of scripture is falsity. Peter said, “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (2 Peter 1:19-21).
